Gracie Davis ’19
When Gracie isn’t working at the Health Collaborative through the Top MD program, she is volunteering at the Roll Hill Community Center, spending time with her friends, or watching Buzzfeed videos. In the future, she hopes to become a cardiothoracic surgeon and a part-time columnist for the New York Times. While there she hopes to search for the truth and express her opinions.
Lauren Ruesink ‘18
Lauren is an enthusiast of all things esoterica. From dead languages to critically endangered monkeys, the more irrelevant the better. She dabbles in all sorts of writing media and is currently working on a fantasy novel. She also likes bananas.

Katie Schulte ‘18
Katie loves writing about topics ranging from world issues to current events. She spends most of her free time discovering poetry slams, learning to code, or cleaning up the coffee she spilled when she tripped on a flat surface. One of her favorite memories is being front-row at a Kesha concert because Kesha is an icon.
Staff Writers

Rosemarie Bingham ‘18
Rosemarie Bingham is a very motivated member of The Light who is committed to bettering the community around her. She looks forward to attending Miami of Florida for college. Her love of Mexican food juxtaposes her fierce hatred for Florida state.
Audrey Felton ‘18
This is Audrey’s first year as a writer for The Light. She is known for winning rap battles, eating applesause and supporting women’s rights. Next year she hopes to be at Notre Dame or Vanderbilt studying to become a lawyer.

Moira Garry ‘18
This is Moira’s first year writing for The Light, and she enjoys politics and writing about current events. She thinks that mac’n’cheese should be its own food group. In a past life, it is likely that she was Wednesday Addams.

Elizabeth Geraghty ‘18
Elizabeth Geraghty is The Light photographer. She’s into graphic design, and when she’s not taking pictures, she hangs out with her cat, Gilbert, who would definitely be British if he could talk, and not drinking coffee. She has a close relationship with books (they have a nice smell) and is going to major in Urban Planning. If she could design her ideal city, it would be a New York where New Yorkers go to retire.

Bebe Hodges ‘18
Bebe joined The Light staff as a freshman coming from St. Gertrude with the intent of using her favorite word, flabbergasted, as much as she could. The first article that she wrote that made her proud and that boosted her confidence was her piece on Lilly Pulitzer’s collaboration with Target. Since then she has written various works that reflect her interest in pop culture but also in encouraging young women at St. Ursula to chase their dreams and never give up.

Sarah Thorton ‘18
Sarah Thornton is a United Nations enthusiast with a passion for vegan chicken, civil rights and a love to learn other cultures and religions (specifically the Mormon sect). Sarah is involved in Model United Nations, Mock trial, Ethics Bowl, Feminism club and is a proponent of giving a home in need to stray cats at sporting events. She hopes to one day be famous enough to have her own Wikipedia page full of incorrect information and aspires to meet other people named Sarah Thornton so she can converse about their shared and differing interests.

Emma Mock ‘19
Emma has always lived in the Hyde Park area. Her mom’s house is in a secluded portion of Mt. Washington, and her dad’s is on a busy street of Hyde Park, enabling her to have the best of both worlds: quiet seclusion and walking to cool restaurants. Emma’s favorite article she has written was on New Year’s Resolutions because she found solace in knowing she is not the only one struggling to keep a resolution. Though she does not want to pursue journalism as a career, Emma has learned a lot from The Light; specifically, how “to look at many different sources and opinions for information and […] to work […] with others to create something [she is] proud of.”

Samantha Woodke ‘20
Samantha is new to The Light this year and hopes to make an impact by writing about topics relevant to student life. She has no plans for her future and instead spends her time watching crime-drama shows on Netflix and rereading her favorite novels. At SUA, you will most likely find her walking around campus to meet her Fitbit step goal.

Sophia Dugan ’21
Sophie is involved in the student newspaper as she enjoys writing and journalism. She is a swimmer, runner, and a member of the new club STEMinists as well as food and nutrition. In her free time, she enjoys running and hanging out with friends. Sophie describes herself as motivated when it comes to school, but more laid-back as a person.
Lily Valentino-Vilaboy ‘20
In addition to being a writer for The Light, Lily is the treasurer for the STEMinists and a member of SUAT. She also plays basketball, just like she did in grade school. Although Lily enjoys being part of The Light, she does not currently plan to go into writing as a career. She is thinking of studying computer or political science, at (preferably) NYU, George Washington University, or the University of Chicago.
